How this matchup plays

Locking down a Timbersaw often comes down to stopping his Timber Chain. Lion is built for this job. Even if Timbersaw finds a tree, Lion's Hex can interrupt the chain's travel, leaving him stranded. Following that with Earth Spike makes it almost impossible for him to escape or get his defensive spells off. The constant threat of Mana Drain also suffocates Timbersaw, who relies on a large mana pool to be a frontline nuisance. A drained Timbersaw is a sitting duck, unable to use his abilities to survive the incoming burst damage.

This dynamic defines the matchup all game. Timbersaw wants to dive aggressively, but he can't play his normal game with Lion on the map. Instead of creating chaos, he's forced to play cautiously and check for Lion before every move, often needing an early Black King Bar or Lotus Orb to function. Lion, on the other hand, can play with confidence. He can sit behind his team, knowing that his job is to wait for Timbersaw to show up and then delete him from the fight with a full combo. The pressure is entirely on Timbersaw to outplay a direct counter.
