Lion vs Storm Spirit

How this matchup plays

Thinking Ball Lightning lets you play around Lion is a common mistake. While you can dodge the Earth Spike, Lion's Hex is instant. The moment Storm Spirit commits to a jump, he's vulnerable to being locked down on arrival. This isn't like dodging a slow projectile; it's getting caught by an unavoidable trap. Once hexed, Storm can't escape the follow-up stun and, even worse, the Mana Drain. A few seconds of that is often enough to leave Storm completely useless, unable to zip away even if he survives the initial burst.

This dynamic turns Lion into a hard counter for the entire game. Storm Spirit wants to be an aggressive, tempo-setting hero who zips around picking off supports. Against Lion, that plan falls apart. He's forced to play passively or risk getting instantly disabled and deleted by Finger of Death. Storm's only real answer is an early Black King Bar, which delays his other core items and slows down his impact. Meanwhile, Lion can play his normal game, providing lockdown for his team and always having a perfect answer ready for the enemy's most mobile threat.
