Picking Lion into a Void Spirit is a classic trade-off. Lion brings Hex, an instant point-and-click disable that’s perfect for catching a slippery target. This is the main reason you'd feel comfortable with the pick. The problem is that Void Spirit's entire kit is well-suited to dodging the rest of Lion's abilities. A well-timed Dissimilate makes him immune to Earth Spike, and his general mobility means he can often escape before Lion can follow up with Finger of Death. The whole interaction hinges on that initial lockdown.

This dynamic defines how they play around each other all game. Lion needs a Blink Dagger to become a proactive threat, hoping to catch Void Spirit out of position. In response, Void Spirit has to play carefully around vision, using his own mobility to stay safe until he sees an opening. If Lion gets the jump, Void Spirit dies. If Void Spirit baits out the spells or initiates on a different target first, he can take over the teamfight while Lion is left with his abilities on cooldown.
