Luna vs Pugna

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst a target down as Luna can be tricky when Pugna is on the other team. His Decrepify can save an ally from your glaives, but it also makes them take more magic damage, which seems good for Eclipse. The problem is Pugna's Nether Ward. If you use Eclipse near the ward, you'll take a massive amount of damage yourself, often killing yourself before the spell even finishes. This creates a standoff where your main source of physical damage and your ultimate are both directly challenged by his basic spells.

This matchup comes down to item timings and positioning. Early on, Pugna can be a real problem for Luna, disrupting teamfights and making it dangerous to use spells. The game then becomes a race for Luna to get a Black King Bar. Once she can activate magic immunity, she can ignore Decrepify, the Nether Ward, and Life Drain, and simply run Pugna down with right-clicks. Whichever team can execute their strategy first—either Pugna's side controlling the mid-game or Luna's side reaching her core items—usually comes out ahead.
