How this matchup plays

Catching Luna is all about lockdown, which is exactly what Shadow Shaman provides. His combination of Hex and Shackles can hold her in place, letting his team collapse and burst her down before her damage becomes a problem. The main risk for Shaman, however, is that Luna's Eclipse is lethal against a stationary target. If he commits to channeling Shackles on her without a prior Hex, he makes himself a perfect target and can easily die to her ultimate before his team can follow up. This makes the direct confrontation a high-stakes standoff for both heroes.

Early in the game, Shadow Shaman's ganking potential can make Luna's laning phase very difficult. As the game progresses, the matchup hinges on key item timings, especially Luna's Black King Bar. Once she has spell immunity, she can often ignore Shaman's threat entirely and focus on hitting buildings or other targets. Shadow Shaman's job then shifts to finding that perfect initiation with a Blink Dagger to catch Luna out of position before she can react. It's a classic battle of initiation versus reaction time.
