Luna vs Troll Warlord

How this matchup plays

Standing your ground against Troll Warlord as a ranged carry often feels impossible, but the dynamic with Luna is more balanced than it appears. Troll needs to get close and stay there, building Fervor stacks while his ranged axes apply a miss chance that cripples Luna's damage. Luna's whole plan, however, is to avoid that direct fight. She can use her superior movement speed and team to kite him, letting Moon Glaives bounce onto him from a safer target. A well-timed Eclipse during a chase can also force Troll to back off or pop his own ultimate, Battle Trance, defensively.

This matchup often hinges on key item timings and ultimate usage. An early lead for Troll Warlord can make laning very difficult for Luna, but she recovers faster with her farming abilities. In teamfights, it's a race. If Troll gets a clean initiation with Black King Bar, he can ignore Eclipse and run her down. But if Luna's team can lock him down first, or if she catches him without his ultimate, her immense burst damage can take him out before he can react. The fight is rarely a simple one-on-one and depends heavily on which hero has the better setup.
