Lycan vs Rubick

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against Lycan's pressure is a tricky problem, but Rubick has the right tools for the job. Lycan wants to build a critical mass of summoned units and take objectives, but Fade Bolt weakens that entire group at once, slowing his push. Telekinesis is also a perfect answer to a charging Shapeshift, lifting Lycan out of the fight and isolating him from his army. The real prize for Rubick is stealing Howl, a powerful team buff. However, Lycan has very few other active spells to take, which means Spell Steal often finds no useful target, limiting Rubick's impact.

The matchup often comes down to timing and execution. Lycan tries to hit his power spike and end the game before Rubick's team can respond. Rubick's goal is to stall that push with key lifts and good spell usage, buying time for his cores to come online. A well-timed stolen Howl can turn a fight completely, but if Rubick can’t get it, he may struggle to contribute meaningfully. Success for either hero depends on capitalizing on small windows of opportunity rather than relying on a core advantage.
