Magnus vs Storm Spirit

How this matchup plays

Catching a Storm Spirit requires instant lockdown, which is exactly what Magnus brings. A well-timed Reverse Polarity can grab Storm before he can react with Ball Lightning, and the follow-up from Horn Toss or Skewer is usually enough to secure the kill. Without that big ultimate, however, Magnus has a very difficult time pinning Storm Spirit down. A Horn Toss is easy to dodge, and Skewering a hero who can change direction instantly is almost impossible. The matchup often comes down to Magnus being able to land that one big spell.

This creates a tense mid-game. Magnus will try to play out of vision with a Blink Dagger, waiting for Storm to overextend. A successful gank can shut down Storm's momentum hard. The Storm Spirit player knows this and will position carefully, often baiting the ultimate before committing to a fight. He'll also prioritize a Black King Bar, which lets him completely ignore Reverse Polarity and play much more aggressively. The long cooldown on Magnus's ultimate gives Storm big windows to make plays across the map, which keeps the game competitive.
