Marci vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

Picking a melee diver against a Witch Doctor is always a calculated risk. Marci wants to jump on fragile backline heroes, but Witch Doctor has the tools to punish that exact game plan. Paralyzing Cask can stop her Rebound engage cold, and a well-placed Maledict on a committed Marci is often a death sentence. Even though she can easily cancel his Death Ward with Dispose if she gets close, the challenge is surviving long enough to reach him. Her all-in nature makes her especially vulnerable to his damage-over-time pressure.

The matchup often becomes a game of cat and mouse in teamfights. Marci will look for flanks and opportunities to get the jump on an isolated Witch Doctor before he can react. In response, a good Witch Doctor will play further back, using his own team as a shield and waiting for Marci to show herself. If she has to dive through multiple heroes to get to him, it’s usually an easy setup for his team to turn and burst her down. This positioning game slightly favors the one who doesn't have to initiate into five enemies.
