Mars vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Fighting into Sniper as Mars often feels like a losing battle. Mars excels at controlling a specific area with Arena of Blood, but Sniper's attack range allows him to stand safely outside the ring and fire on anyone trapped within. To land Spear of Mars or God's Rebuke, Mars has to close a huge gap, leaving him vulnerable to Sniper's constant damage and the slows from Shrapnel. The Arena, meant to be a trap for enemies, effectively becomes a shooting gallery for Sniper, who can dismantle Mars's plan from a safe distance.

The entire game revolves around Mars trying to get a jump with a Blink Dagger. Without one, he has almost no way to threaten a properly positioned Sniper. Even with Blink, Mars is forced into a deep, risky dive. A patient Sniper will stay far back, forcing Mars to either overcommit for a solo kill or ignore him and get picked apart. The Arena wall can even backfire by blocking Mars's own allies from reaching Sniper, turning his ultimate into a protective shield for the hero who counters him most.
