Mars vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Mars with Focus Fire feels like a coin toss. His Bulwark heavily reduces incoming attack damage from the front, forcing Windranger to find a better angle to do her job. A good Shackleshot can do the trick, stunning him long enough to get side damage in and finish him off. On the other hand, if Mars can keep facing her, he can absorb most of her ultimate and walk away. Neither hero has a built-in, reliable advantage here; it all comes down to positioning and which one gets the jump on the other.

This dynamic extends into teamfights centered around Arena of Blood. Windranger is a prime target to get trapped inside, where her mobility is useless and Mars can easily finish her off. But if she stays outside the Arena, she's excellent at punishing any of Mars's allies who are stuck inside with him. A well-placed Powershot from range can completely swing the fight. Success for either hero depends on landing their key spells. Mars needs to trap her, and Windranger needs to either avoid the trap or stun him first.
