Medusa vs Sand King

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst Medusa with a full Epicenter can feel underwhelming. Her Mana Shield is built to absorb exactly that kind of magical damage, often allowing her to survive what would kill most other heroes. This forces Sand King to rely on his allies to follow up a Burrowstrike initiation. On the other hand, Medusa finds Sand King an annoying target. The damage from a well-placed Epicenter and Sand Storm can still burn through her mana pool, her effective health, leaving her vulnerable. Her Mystic Snake is also a great tool for depleting his small mana reserve, making it harder for him to cast his spells.

The matchup often comes down to timing and team execution. A Sand King who creates early pressure can delay Medusa’s key items and help his team close out the game before she becomes a problem. As the game goes later, however, the advantage can shift. A farmed Medusa is incredibly difficult for Sand King to handle alone, and her Stone Gaze provides a perfect counter-initiation to his Blink Dagger and Epicenter combo. Ultimately, the fight depends on which team can better enable their hero's game plan.
