Picking Shadow Demon into Medusa forces you to rely on one half of his kit over the other. His signature setup spell, Disruption, feels much weaker in this matchup. When used on Medusa, the illusions it creates also get Mana Shield, making them surprisingly tanky. Without her items, however, they deal very little damage and mostly serve as a minor distraction. This neutralizes a major source of his impact. On the other hand, Demonic Purge is an excellent tool against her, providing a long-duration slow that goes through magic immunity. This can enable your team to kite and finally kill Medusa, but giving up the offensive threat of Disruption makes the game feel much harder for Shadow Demon.
