Medusa vs Warlock

How this matchup plays

Controlling Medusa's farm with spell pressure is often difficult for a Warlock. Because her Mana Shield absorbs so much incoming punishment, very little health damage is left to be shared by Fatal Bonds. This makes her a poor primary target for Warlock’s signature spell, forcing him to instead link her allies together and hope she gets caught in the splash. While he can try to harass her, Medusa is generally content to sit back and farm, knowing his main damage-over-time threat is heavily mitigated by her innate tankiness.

The matchup evens out in teamfights. Warlock’s strength shifts from sustained damage to lockdown. Chaotic Offering's stun is a perfect tool for catching Medusa, allowing his team to focus her down before Mana Shield can absorb everything. Upheaval can also trap her, preventing her from contributing her own damage. Fights often come down to whether Warlock can land a good ultimate to initiate on Medusa. If he can, his team has a strong chance. If Medusa or her team sees it coming, she can use Stone Gaze to turn the entire initiation around.
