Monkey King vs Pangolier

How this matchup plays

Expecting Pangolier to easily escape Monkey King is a common trap. His kit is full of mobility, with Swashbuckle letting him dash away and Rolling Thunder providing an out from Wukong's Command. The problem for Pangolier is that Monkey King’s initiation is often instant. A surprise Boundless Strike from the trees or fog can stun him long enough for Jingu Mastery to activate, deleting him before he can press his buttons. Pangolier's Shield Crash offers a brief defensive window, but it requires perfect timing against Monkey King's instant burst damage.

This tension plays out across the entire game. Monkey King is constantly hunting from the trees, trying to find and eliminate Pangolier before a teamfight starts. Pangolier is forced to play with caution, using his mobility to stay safe until he can find a good angle for Rolling Thunder. The outcome of their duels often determines who wins a bigger fight. If Monkey King catches him, a key disruptor is removed. If Pangolier gets his ultimate off, he can completely ruin Wukong's Command and bowl Monkey King out of the fight for his team to clean up.
