Monkey King vs Primal Beast

How this matchup plays

Dropping Wukong's Command feels like the right call against a charging Primal Beast, but it's a huge mistake. The spell doesn't stop him, so he can simply Onslaught through the soldiers to get to a backline target or, worse, use Pulverize on the real Monkey King. Getting grabbed and dragged out of your own ultimate instantly cancels it and leaves you completely exposed. Even when moving around the map, Primal Beast's charge can knock down the trees Monkey King relies on for Tree Dance, limiting his mobility and escape options.

This dynamic starts in the lane, where Primal Beast's natural bulk makes it difficult for Monkey King to build Jingu Mastery stacks without taking a terrible trade. Once both heroes get their ultimates, Primal Beast can dictate the fight. He knows he has a direct counter, so he can save Pulverize specifically for Wukong's Command. This forces Monkey King to play reactively, unable to start fights and waiting for the spell to be used on an ally first, which often means he's too late to have a real impact.
