Monkey King vs Wraith King

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Wraith King is a tempo sink for Monkey King. A core part of Monkey King’s plan is to get Jingu Mastery stacks and commit his abilities for a quick kill, but Wraith King's Reincarnation means he has to do it all twice. The massive slow from Reincarnation is also a huge problem, as it leaves Monkey King stranded and vulnerable after using his abilities on the first life. Even Wukong's Command struggles, as Wraith King can often stand in it, die, and come back to life after the most dangerous part of the spell is over.

This dynamic shapes the whole game. Monkey King wants to snowball from early fights, but he can't get the clean kills he needs on Wraith King or his team. This allows Wraith King to farm steadily and hit his own timings without much pressure. In teamfights, Monkey King is forced into a bad choice: either focus a two-life hero and likely lose the fight, or try to ignore a farmed Wraith King, which usually isn't possible. MK’s best approach is to try and pick off supports, but a smart WK will simply stand in front and make that impossible.
