Monkey King vs Spirit Breaker

How this matchup plays

Trying to channel Wukong's Command against a Spirit Breaker often ends the fight for Monkey King before it begins. Spirit Breaker can see the cast animation and interrupt it from anywhere on the map with Charge of Darkness. Even if Monkey King successfully casts his ultimate, Spirit Breaker can activate Bulldoze to resist slows, walk into the circle, and use Nether Strike to stun and knock him out of the effective area. This completely neutralizes Monkey King’s biggest teamfight contribution.

This dynamic forces Monkey King to play reactively, holding his ultimate until Spirit Breaker has already used his key spells on someone else. Outside of big fights, the global threat is always present. Monkey King can’t safely split-push lanes or use Tree Dance to escape, as a Charge will stun him and break the tree he is on. Spirit Breaker dictates where and when Monkey King is allowed to play, severely limiting his ability to farm, scout, or find his own openings throughout the game.
