How this matchup plays

Trading hits in the lane often feels like a race that Monkey King is bound to lose. Both heroes rely on stacking up damage on a target, but Ursa’s Overpower lets him apply Fury Swipes far more quickly than Monkey King can land the four consecutive attacks needed for Jingu Mastery. Even if Monkey King gets his ultimate down, Ursa can often survive the initial damage by using Enrage. This allows him to turn the fight and finish Monkey King off before the Jingu damage and lifesteal can make a real difference.

As the game progresses, this dynamic forces Monkey King to play carefully. He can use Tree Dance to scout and poke, but committing to a solo kill on Ursa is a huge risk. Ursa, meanwhile, actively seeks these one-on-one brawls, especially after he gets a Blink Dagger. His goal is to jump in, slow with Earthshock, and burst Monkey King down before he has a chance to escape or get help. Monkey King's best approach is to stay with his team and provide control, rather than trying to out-fight a hero who is simply better at a direct confrontation.
