Monkey King vs Weaver

How this matchup plays

Picking Monkey King into an enemy Weaver means you're signing up for a frustrating game. Monkey King’s damage relies on landing consecutive hits to build up Jingu Mastery, but Weaver’s Shukuchi makes that incredibly difficult. He can turn invisible and reposition, forcing the stacks to expire. Even if Monkey King lands his full combo, Weaver can often use Time Lapse to negate the burst damage and reset the fight completely. Wukong's Command feels equally weak, as a hasted Weaver can usually just run right out of the circle before taking significant damage.

This dynamic forces Monkey King to rely on his teammates for hard lockdown if he ever wants to kill Weaver. He can’t confidently hunt for solo pickoffs on the map if Weaver is the target. For Weaver, this matchup means he can split-push with less fear of being punished by the enemy carry. In teamfights, the Weaver player knows that if he can survive Monkey King's initial jump, he's likely won the engagement. Monkey King is then left with his big spells on cooldown, having accomplished very little.
