Dealing with a Phantom Assassin jump is often a race against time for Morphling. Her damage is physical and can arrive in sudden spikes with Coup de Grace. A lucky critical strike might land before Attribute Shift can move enough health into the strength pool to survive. Phantom Assassin’s Blur also makes it harder for Morphling to fight back with his own attacks, which can limit his options during a fight. This gives her a small but real advantage in head-on engagements, especially if she gets the jump.

The dynamic shifts throughout the game. Morphling can have a stronger laning stage and pressure her early, but Phantom Assassin’s threat grows considerably once she gets her ultimate and damage items. Morphling has to itemize to survive her initial assault, using things like Ethereal Blade for a disarm or Skadi for the raw health. If he can live through the first few seconds of her attack, his control and burst can often win the fight. The game becomes about her trying to find a quick kill and him trying to anticipate and survive it.
