Morphling vs Shadow Shaman

Picking Morphling is a huge liability when Shadow Shaman is still in the pool. The hero's core survival plan is to use Attribute Shift to gain health when focused, but Shadow Shaman's lockdown completely denies this. An instant Hex gives more than enough time for a team to burst Morphling down before he can react. If that's not enough, Shackles provides an even longer disable. Shadow Shaman fundamentally preys on heroes who need a split second to press their defensive buttons, and that’s Morphling’s entire game.

From the start of the laning stage, Shadow Shaman can rotate for easy kills on a vulnerable Morphling. This pressure continues into the mid-game, where any teamfight can be decided by Shaman finding and disabling Morphling before he can contribute. The Morphling player is forced to play cautiously and itemize defensively with things like a Linken's Sphere or Black King Bar, delaying his own timings. The Shadow Shaman's game plan is simple: save your disables for Morphling and watch him explode.
