Morphling vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Picking a mid-game target for a farmed Morphling often leads to Sniper. Waveform provides an excellent tool to close the massive distance Sniper creates, and once on top of him, Morphling's burst damage can be overwhelming. Sniper is fragile and has no natural escape, making him an ideal victim. However, Morphling's ability to survive the approach is the real question. He can shift into Strength to tank Assassinate, but he can't ignore the constant damage from Sniper's long-range attacks and the slows from Shrapnel that make closing that initial gap so difficult.

The matchup often comes down to positioning and team support. A solo Morphling can usually kill a solo Sniper if he gets the jump. But in a teamfight, if Sniper has allies providing vision and peel, he can safely attack from the backline while Morphling struggles to break through the frontline. It becomes a game of who executes their plan better. Morphling hunts for an opening to delete Sniper, while Sniper's team works to create a safe fortress for him to shoot from. The outcome is rarely decided by the heroes alone.
