Morphling vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst Spectre with a full-Agility build is a nightmare for Morphling. All that damage he's built to dish out gets partially reflected by Dispersion, and since he has almost no health after using Attribute Shift, he can end up killing himself. Spectre also punishes Morphling for trying to find solo kills, which is his main way of getting ahead. If Morphling is caught alone, Desolate adds a lot of pure damage that he can't itemize against. Her passive abilities are a direct counter to his entire game plan of singling out and deleting a target.

This dynamic defines the whole game. Morphling wants to hit his mid-game timing and snowball with pickoffs, but Spectre’s Haunt makes the entire map unsafe. Any attempt Morphling makes to split-push or hunt a support can be instantly turned by Spectre joining the fight. This forces Morphling into five-on-five fights where he has a harder time focusing one hero. If the game goes late, Spectre becomes so durable that Morphling often can't chew through her health bar before the reflected Dispersion damage finishes him off, even with a full set of items.
