Shadow Fiend vs Io

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a big Requiem of Souls becomes a lot harder when Io is on the other team. The massive, continuous healing from Tether can be enough for Io's partner to survive the burst damage, effectively neutralizing Shadow Fiend’s main teamfight spell. Io also excels at punishing immobile heroes. A surprise Relocate can bring a carry right on top of Shadow Fiend, who lacks a natural escape and can be killed before getting his own spells off. This constant threat of being jumped makes it difficult for SF to farm aggressively or find solo pickoffs.

The matchup still comes down to execution and awareness. A smart Shadow Fiend will wait for Io to be out of position or for Relocate to be on cooldown before committing his ultimate. Getting a Black King Bar is also key, as it allows SF to ignore slows from Spirits and focus down his target without interruption. From Io’s side, it’s all about shadowing the right core and reacting instantly to a gank. Since the advantage can swing completely based on who makes the first mistake, the game often feels dependent on which team has better coordination.
