Ogre Magi vs Io

How this matchup plays

Trying to stop a Relocate save requires instant, reliable lockdown. Ogre Magi provides exactly that with Fireblast, which can interrupt the channel and leave Io stranded. A lucky Multicast can keep Io locked down long enough for a kill, completely foiling his attempt to save an ally or bring one into a fight. The slow from Ignite further hinders the tethered pair's escape, making it difficult for them to create distance once Ogre gets on top of them. This gives Ogre a specific and powerful tool for dealing with Io's signature moves.

Executing this plan is much harder in a real game. Io is rarely alone, and reaching him usually means walking past whichever dangerous core he’s tethered to. Ogre Magi is tanky, but not invincible. Later on, defensive items on Io or a BKB on his partner can make Ogre's stuns irrelevant. The matchup really hinges on which team has the better initiation and vision control. If Ogre finds an opening, he can shut Io down, but a well-played Io can easily bait Ogre out of position and turn the fight.
