How this matchup plays

Feeling confident front-lining against physical damage is Timbersaw’s whole game plan. He expects to get hit, stack up his passive armor and regeneration, and become an unkillable nuisance. Phantom Assassin dismantles this plan completely. Her typical item progression often includes a Silver Edge, which applies a break on attack. A broken Timbersaw loses his Reactive Armor, turning him from a durable tank into a fragile target with a mediocre health pool. Phantom Assassin’s high physical burst can then finish him off before he has a chance to react or escape.

This turns the mid-game into a nightmare for Timbersaw. He can have a great start, but the moment Phantom Assassin completes that key item, he can no longer play aggressively. He’s forced to constantly worry about being initiated on from invisibility. This forces him into buying defensive items he might not want or playing far behind his own team, severely limiting his impact. The pressure is entirely on the Timbersaw to track her movements and avoid the break, while PA gets to dictate when and where the fight happens.
