Phantom Assassin vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Assuming Venomancer's damage over time will shut down Phantom Assassin is a common mistake. While it’s true his poisons make it hard for her to disengage or stay hidden with Blur, PA's primary goal isn't to hide, it’s to kill. Venomancer himself is a very fragile hero with no escape, making him a perfect target for Phantom Assassin’s burst. A well-timed Phantom Strike, especially with a Black King Bar to block the initial slows and magic damage, is often enough to eliminate him from a fight before he can get his Poison Nova off.

Early in the game, Venomancer's slows and constant harass can be a real problem. As the match progresses, it becomes a game of positioning. A smart Venomancer will stay far in the backline, using Plague Wards to create space and provide vision that makes it difficult for PA to find an opening. Phantom Assassin, in turn, needs to be patient, using her own tools to find and isolate him. The fight often comes down to that single jump; if PA can burst Veno, her team has a huge advantage, but if she fails, his lingering poison can cost her team the fight even if he dies.
