Phantom Assassin vs Winter Wyvern

How this matchup plays

Getting caught out by a Phantom Assassin can feel very difficult. Winter Wyvern has good tools on paper, especially Cold Embrace to block the physical burst. The problem is that PA's Phantom Strike comes up much faster than any of Wyvern’s defensive spells. A patient Phantom Assassin can jump in, force the Cold Embrace, back off, and then go for the kill again before Wyvern has her defense ready. Blur also makes it hard for Winter Wyvern to apply damage and slow with Arctic Burn, as her right clicks are prone to missing, which can give PA the opening she needs.

Later in the game, this dynamic often revolves around key items. Phantom Assassin naturally builds items that can dispel Cold Embrace or block Winter's Curse, effectively neutralizing Wyvern's main contributions in a one-on-one fight. Because of this, Winter Wyvern is forced to play from extreme distances, trying to use her ultimate on a different target before PA can get on top of her. But PA's Stifling Dagger is great for finding isolated targets and slowing them, making it tough for Wyvern to maintain safe positioning without her team peeling perfectly.
