Phantom Lancer vs Treant Protector

How this matchup plays

Picking a support into Phantom Lancer often means looking for area-of-effect control, and Treant Protector has some useful tools for this. His Overgrowth can root the entire illusion army, helping his team find the real hero, and Nature's Grasp slows them all down. The issue for Treant is that Phantom Lancer's Doppelganger is a perfect answer. It can dispel Leech Seed and, with good timing, dodge the Overgrowth root entirely. Once PL has a few items, his illusions can swarm Treant Protector, making it difficult to target the right hero or even survive the physical damage from the sheer number of units.

Early on, Treant can be a real nuisance with strong lane presence and global Living Armor to thwart ganks. But once teamfights start happening, the matchup gets harder for him. Phantom Lancer's goal is to create chaos with illusions, forcing Treant to guess with his spells or get worn down before he can find a good position. Treant's whole game becomes about landing that one perfect Overgrowth on the real PL before his team is overwhelmed by the illusion army. If he misses or Phantom Lancer dodges, his impact drops off significantly for the rest of the fight.
