Phantom Lancer vs Warlock

How this matchup plays

Slowing down Phantom Lancer's map pressure is Warlock's main contribution. Fatal Bonds punishes PL for grouping with his illusions, as damage to one gets shared with the others, including the real hero. This makes it much easier to clear the illusion army and apply pressure back onto the real Phantom Lancer. Chaotic Offering further complicates things by stunning a huge area and summoning a Golem with a burning aura, which passively melts away any illusions that get too close during a fight.

This forces Phantom Lancer to play around Warlock's major cooldowns. He can’t simply send illusions to siege towers if the Golem is ready to defend. PL's best chance is to isolate and burst Warlock before he can cast his ultimate, or to bait it out and re-engage once it's over. For Warlock's team, the plan is straightforward: protect him, let him get his spells off on the clumped-up illusions, and win the teamfight from there. This gives Warlock's side a consistent tool to answer PL's late-game strength.
