Phantom Lancer vs Weaver

How this matchup plays

Farming the map becomes incredibly dangerous for Weaver as the game progresses. Phantom Lancer can scout and push lanes with illusions, and if one spots Weaver, a quick Phantom Rush closes the gap. This forces a fight where Weaver is at a huge disadvantage. His main escape, Shukuchi, can't reliably shake a whole army of illusions that constantly re-apply slows and block his path. Furthermore, The Swarm is rendered almost useless, as any stray attack from Phantom Lancer or his copies will instantly clear the beetles, denying Weaver his armor reduction and vision.

This forces Weaver to play a much more passive game than he wants to. In any direct confrontation, he struggles to identify the real Phantom Lancer, and his single-target damage gets diluted across countless illusions. He has to use Time Lapse to survive the initial burst of copies, leaving him vulnerable for the remainder of the fight. Weaver's only real plan is to avoid PL entirely, trying to split-push or pick off isolated heroes. But Phantom Lancer's map presence with his illusions makes even that a risky proposition, effectively shrinking the map for the Weaver player.
