Pugna vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against Venomancer is often about out-pushing his Plague Wards, and Pugna excels here. Nether Blast clears waves and pressures towers much faster, forcing Venomancer onto the back foot. The core problem for Veno, though, is Nether Ward. His entire kit revolves around frequent, low-cooldown spell casts to apply damage over time. The ward punishes every single one of these spells, turning his own offensive pressure into a source of self-damage. On top of that, Life Drain gives Pugna a reliable way to sustain through Poison Nova, often nullifying Veno's kill threat.

From the laning stage onwards, Pugna dictates the terms of engagement. He can safely shove waves and threaten towers, while Venomancer has to risk taking huge damage from the Nether Ward to contest him. In teamfights, Pugna can place his ward defensively and create a safe zone for his team where Veno is almost useless. Venomancer is forced to play around the ward's cooldown or position, often having to commit his spells from a bad spot or wait until the ward is destroyed. By that time, Pugna and his team have likely already secured a kill and taken control of the fight.
