Shadow Shaman vs Tusk

How this matchup plays

Jumping onto a target with Snowball is Tusk's whole plan, but it puts him directly in Shadow Shaman's crosshairs. The instant Tusk arrives, a simple Hex makes his initiation completely worthless. He’s a melee hero who has to commit to being in the thick of it, so getting disabled right at the start usually means he’s dead before he can even throw a punch. Even if he survives the initial disable, Shadow Shaman can follow up with Shackles to keep him locked down for an extremely long time. Tusk just can't play his aggressive, tempo-setting game when a reliable, instant disable is waiting for him.

This dynamic controls the entire mid-game. Shadow Shaman can confidently place Mass Serpent Wards to pressure objectives, knowing Tusk can't start a good fight to stop the push. Tusk is forced to either buy an early Black King Bar or wait for someone else on his team to go in first, which neuters his impact. He's often relegated to a more defensive role, trying to save teammates with Snowball instead of leading the charge. Shadow Shaman dictates the engagements and the objectives, leaving Tusk with very few good opportunities to play his game.
