Shadow Shaman vs Zeus

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by a Hex is a death sentence for Zeus. Shadow Shaman provides the exact kind of long, single-target lockdown that neutralizes a hero with no escape, often removing him from a fight before he can contribute his magical burst. A successful initiation by Shaman usually guarantees a kill. On the other hand, Shadow Shaman is extremely squishy and has no mobility of his own. Zeus excels at bursting down fragile heroes from a safe distance. If Zeus or his allies spot Shaman first, he can be deleted by spells before he gets a chance to cast anything.

This creates a tense duel of positioning and vision across the entire game. A Shadow Shaman with a Blink Dagger can make Zeus's life miserable, turning him into an easy pickoff that opens up the map for Mass Serpent Ward pushes. But a well-positioned Zeus who lets his front line provide vision can obliterate Shaman from the fog of war. The fight often comes down to which hero gets the drop on the other; the one who lands the first spell almost always wins the exchange.
