How this matchup plays

Applying Corrosive Haze to Io's tethered partner is often the key to winning a fight. The vision and armor reduction make bursting that target much simpler, and it completely negates any attempt to use Relocate as a hidden escape. Slardar can use Sprint to chase down the linked pair, as the speed boost usually lets him keep pace or close the gap. Once in range, a Slithereen Crush can stun both Io and its ally, preventing any immediate response or save from the Wisp.

This creates a persistent threat that Io has to respect all game. Slardar will constantly be hunting for Io's carry, forcing them into safer positions and slowing down their farm. Io can try to counter this by tethering to heroes who don't mind being initiated on, or by using the Tether speed and a well-timed Relocate to bring in help. The fight often comes down to whether Slardar can land his stun and burst before Io can successfully reposition or get a save item off. This gives Slardar an edge, but it's one that a coordinated duo can play around.
