Slark vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

The duel between Slark and Witch Doctor often comes down to a single dispel. Witch Doctor's Maledict is designed to punish heroes who try to escape, but Slark can perfectly time Dark Pact to remove it. This completely negates a primary source of the doctor's kill threat. The trade-off is that Dark Pact won't break the stun from Paralyzing Cask. This leaves Slark vulnerable to being held in place for allies or a full-duration Death Ward, creating a constant state of tension whenever they face off.

Throughout the game, this dynamic forces both players to be careful. Slark can’t simply Pounce on Witch Doctor without respecting the Cask stun, which can easily turn a gank into his own death. He needs to wait for it to be used or try to bait it out. For Witch Doctor, it means he can't rely on Maledict to finish the job. He has to position himself near teammates who can follow up on his stun, or have an escape item ready for when Slark inevitably jumps on him. The outcome really depends on who makes the first mistake.
