Sniper vs Templar Assassin

How this matchup plays

Trying to rely on Refraction against Sniper is a losing battle. His high attack speed and preference for items that add chain lightning or other damage procs can burn through all the defensive charges in an instant. A single Shrapnel has the same effect, applying constant damage over a wide area that strips away Templar Assassin's primary survival tool before a fight even starts. This leaves her without the durability needed to close the distance or survive focus fire, making her a much softer target than she usually is.

This fundamental interaction forces Templar Assassin to find a perfect jump with her Blink Dagger. She needs to catch Sniper completely isolated and burst him from Meld before he can react. Sniper plays to avoid this exact scenario, staying far behind his team and using Shrapnel for scouting vision to spot rotations. If Templar Assassin does commit, she often finds Sniper can push her away with a well-timed item or that his teammates are waiting to disable and kill her, turning her aggressive play into a fatal mistake.
