Spectre vs Tinker

How this matchup plays

Picking Tinker into an open Spectre pick is a massive gamble. Spectre's entire kit seems designed to punish him. Her Haunt finds Tinker anywhere on the map, which completely disrupts his goal of split-pushing lanes from a safe distance. Once she commits to his illusion, the Desolate damage for being isolated is often overwhelming. Tinker can try to use items or his Laser's miss chance to survive the initial jump, but it’s rarely enough. Spectre’s own durability from Dispersion and the relentless chase from Spectral Dagger mean she can usually stick on target long enough to secure the kill, even if it takes a few seconds.

The matchup feels like a timer. Before Spectre gets her ultimate, Tinker has a window to create pressure and try to get ahead. After that point, the map becomes incredibly dangerous for him. Any teamfight his opponents start can turn into a death sentence for Tinker, as Spectre can Haunt and immediately focus him down. This forces the Tinker to play uncomfortably close to his own team, negating his map control strengths. Meanwhile, Spectre is free to farm, knowing she has a global button to eliminate the enemy's primary damage dealer and split-pusher.
