Spectre vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst Spectre down with Focus Fire often backfires on Windranger. Spectre’s Dispersion reflects a portion of that rapid-fire damage, and it adds up so quickly that Windranger can end up killing herself before her target goes down. This problem gets worse as the game goes on and Spectre gets tankier. Additionally, Windranger’s main escape tool, Windrun, provides physical evasion but does nothing to stop Spectre from jumping directly on her with Haunt. The slow from Spectral Dagger also makes it difficult for Windranger to create distance even with the bonus movement speed.

This dynamic shapes the entire game. Windranger wants to build tempo with early pickoffs, but her ultimate is a liability against one of the enemy's core heroes. She has to play around her team, hoping they can control and burst Spectre for her. Spectre, on the other hand, is happy to farm and scale. Once she has a few items, she can use Haunt to hunt down a lone Windranger anywhere on the map, knowing the duel is heavily in her favor. Windranger can't split push safely and can't effectively focus her primary target in teamfights.
