Deciding to pick one of these heroes into the other often comes down to your team's plan, as both have tools to ruin the other's game. Spirit Breaker lives to find and isolate fragile targets, and Witch Doctor is a prime candidate. A successful Charge of Darkness from out of vision is usually a death sentence. The risk for Spirit Breaker is that Witch Doctor is rarely helpless. A well-timed Paralyzing Cask can stop the charge, and landing Maledict on a diving Spirit Breaker almost guarantees he won't survive the attempt, even if he gets his kill.

The matchup becomes a tense game of positioning. Spirit Breaker tries to use his global presence to catch Witch Doctor alone or moving between lanes. If he can force a pickoff before a fight, his team has a major advantage. Witch Doctor's goal is the opposite: stay grouped with allies who can protect him or serve as a better target for the charge. If Spirit Breaker dives a core, it gives Witch Doctor a perfect opportunity to counter with his spells and turn the initiation around with Death Ward.
