Storm Spirit vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Jumping on a lone Windranger often feels like a trap for Storm Spirit. The initial burst from zipping in is usually followed by right-clicks and Overload procs, but Windrun completely negates that physical damage. This forces Storm to rely entirely on magical burst and landing a perfect Electric Vortex to hold her down. If he fails or if Windranger anticipates the gank, she can easily turn the fight. A well-aimed Shackleshot as he arrives can be a death sentence, stopping his aggression cold and leaving him vulnerable.

The entire game between these two plays out as a duel of initiation and reaction. Windranger can make the laning phase difficult for Storm with her attack range and Powershot. Later on, the hero who gets the jump usually wins the fight. A Storm Spirit who finds Windranger out of position without vision can overwhelm her before she can press her buttons. But a prepared Windranger can use Windrun to survive the initial onslaught, then disable and kill a low-mana Storm Spirit who overextended for the kill.
