Templar Assassin vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down a Templar Assassin often fails because her Refraction soaks up the initial spell damage. Windranger bypasses this problem entirely with Focus Fire. The rapid-fire attacks burn through all the defensive charges in a split second, leaving TA vulnerable to the rest of the damage and any follow-up. This turns Templar Assassin's primary defensive tool into a minor speed bump. Furthermore, Windranger can use Windrun to get away or even dodge a big Meld strike, making it difficult for TA to trade back effectively. It's an interaction that undermines how TA wants to survive.

Early in the lane, the matchup can feel manageable for Templar Assassin, as a single Powershot doesn't do much to her shield. The real trouble starts once Windranger has access to her ultimate. From that point on, any gank or duel becomes extremely risky for TA. Her game plan relies on blinking in and quickly killing a target, but a good Shackleshot can stop that instantly, setting up a kill with Focus Fire. Templar Assassin has to get a perfect jump and hope to one-shot Windranger before she can react, while WR has more tools to control the engagement and exploit the Refraction weakness.
