Troll Warlord vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Applying a full load of poison to Troll Warlord seems like the right move, but it frequently backfires. Venomancer's entire plan of draining health with damage over time creates the ideal scenario for Troll to activate Battle Trance. Instead of dying from the damage, he becomes unkillable and uses it as a trigger to turn the fight. The ultimate also dispels slows from spells like Venomous Gale, so any attempt to keep distance is immediately cancelled. Troll closes the gap and starts hitting, quickly healing through any damage taken.

The laning phase can be annoying, but once Troll Warlord has his core items, he can treat Venomancer as a priority target in every fight. He simply runs through the poison and focuses him down first. Venomancer's only real response is to build defensive items to survive the initial onslaught or try to cast his spells on Troll's teammates while avoiding him completely. This forces Venomancer onto the back foot for the whole game, unable to effectively slow or damage the enemy's main threat.
