Tusk vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst Windranger often feels like a coin flip for Tusk. He has the tools to get on top of her with Snowball and can trap her with Ice Shards, which are great ways to start a fight. The problem is what happens next. Windrun makes her completely immune to his physical burst, rendering Walrus PUNCH and Tag Team useless for its duration. Tusk is then left standing next to a very fast target he can't damage. It becomes a game of baiting out her escape before committing his ultimate, which is rarely a guaranteed success.

Across the map, this means Tusk can't reliably solo-kill Windranger past the early game. His role shifts from being the executioner to being the setup. He'll use Ice Shards to trap her or Snowball to force out the Windrun, creating a window for his teammates to follow up. On the other side, Windranger has to play carefully around his vision, using her range to stay safe. A well-placed Shackleshot can stop his initiation completely, but if she gets caught out by a surprise Snowball, she’s usually forced to run without getting much done.
