Tusk vs Winter Wyvern

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst a target down with Tusk feels awful against a decent Winter Wyvern. The moment he connects with Snowball, Cold Embrace comes out to save his victim from all the physical damage of Walrus Punch, completely wasting the initiation. If Tusk tries to solve this by bringing his whole team along, the situation gets even worse. Winter Wyvern can simply use Winter's Curse on the primary target, forcing Tusk and his allies to kill their own initiator or core. Her entire kit seems designed to dismantle his game plan.

This dynamic puts Tusk on the back foot from the first gank attempt. He's forced to play around Wyvern's cooldowns, either by trying to bait them out or by committing everything to killing her first. The problem is, she plays far in the backline and can use Arctic Burn to stay safe, making her a very difficult target. Tusk is ultimately denied his primary job of creating picks and forcing fights, leaving him to throw out Ice Shards from a distance while Winter Wyvern dictates every engagement.
