Abaddon + Invoker

Why this works

Playing on a faster clock becomes possible because Abaddon can reliably peel for a hero like Invoker. Getting caught by a stun or silence is often fatal, but an Aphotic Shield provides a strong dispel, giving Invoker the window he needs to escape or turn the fight with his own spells. Abaddon is built to draw attention and absorb punishment, especially with Borrowed Time, creating the exact kind of chaos that lets Invoker land a clean Ice Wall or Cataclysm without being focused down himself. This makes taking objectives or controlling key areas of the map feel a little safer.

The pairing usually gives Invoker a more stable laning stage and mid-game, since Abaddon can rotate to save him from ganks that might otherwise succeed. As the game progresses, they look to play together, with Abaddon running in to apply Curse of Avernus, slowing a key target for Invoker’s follow-up. The enemy's goal is to overwhelm this defense. They either need to burst Invoker so quickly that the shield doesn't matter, or they must kite Abaddon and wait out his ultimate before re-engaging. Success often hinges on that defensive timing.
