Abaddon + Phantom Lancer

Why this works

Securing Phantom Lancer's farm helps him hit his item timings and start contributing sooner. Abaddon provides a direct way to do this with Aphotic Shield, which offers a strong dispel to remove a critical stun or silence. This can give Phantom Lancer the small window he needs to use Doppelganger and escape a gank. If the initial burst is too heavy, Borrowed Time can provide another layer of healing and turn the engagement around. The core idea is to make picking off the slippery carry a more difficult and less certain prospect for the enemy team.

This allows Phantom Lancer to farm slightly more dangerous areas of the map than he otherwise could. In teamfights, Abaddon's positioning relative to his carry is key, as enemies will actively try to bait out the shield before committing their real lockdown. A smart opponent might even focus Abaddon first to remove the save entirely. Because there is clear counterplay, and because opponents can sometimes overwhelm the defensive spells with enough damage or control, the synergy provides a noticeable, but not overwhelming, advantage.
