Abaddon + Storm Spirit

Why this works

Diving deep into the enemy backline is Storm Spirit's entire game. Abaddon's saves, like Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil, are powerful but have a limited cast range. He’s a hero who wants his team nearby to protect, but he doesn't have the mobility to keep up with a friendly Storm Spirit zipping a full screen away. Abaddon excels at turning around an enemy gank on his team, but he struggles to proactively follow his own core into enemy territory. This fundamental difference in positioning means Storm is often isolated at the most critical moment.

Throughout the game, this duo can feel awkward. Storm wants to be proactive and make plays across the map, while Abaddon is more reactive and anchors a part of it. In teamfights, Abaddon is typically positioned to protect his other cores, leaving him out of range when Storm commits deep for a kill. This forces Storm to play more cautiously than he'd like, or it means Abaddon’s life-saving abilities aren't available for the hero taking the biggest risks. The two simply want to fight in different ways, which can lead to disjointed engagements.
