Gyrocopter + Lich

Why this works

Facing this duo often feels less threatening than it should on paper. The main problem is a lack of synergy between their biggest spells. Both Gyrocopter’s Call Down and Lich’s Chain Frost want enemies to be grouped up and held in place, but neither hero provides the instant, wide-area lockdown needed to guarantee that. Gyrocopter might get a Homing Missile stun on one target, but the rest of the team can scatter. Lich's Frost Shield is a decent defensive tool for a squishy core, but it doesn't enable the aggressive dives Gyrocopter needs to make to secure kills with Rocket Barrage.

This disconnect plays out all game. The lane has kill potential, but it’s rarely dominant enough to shut down the enemy offlaner completely. Later on, teamfights become awkward. Without a strong initiator, the pair has to wait for the enemy to make a mistake. More often, a coordinated team can simply walk away from Call Down’s impact zone or spread out to stop Chain Frost from bouncing. This forces Gyrocopter to play cautiously, unable to fully commit because Lich can’t provide the hard control to keep him safe or lock targets down.
